Steelers owner Dan Rooney, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and retired Steelers players will host an event at Heinz Field, where the Steelers play, on Thursday for an event.
Rooney is Obama’s former Ambassador to Ireland.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the meetup is called the “Affordable Care Act education and enrollment event,” and it will provide “Pennsylvanians the opportunity to learn more about the health insurance marketplace exchanges.”
The Obama administration had tried to partner with sports leagues like the NBA and NFL to promote Obamacare but relented under pressure from Republicans in Congress. They have, though, started to partner with individual teams. For instance, the Obama administration partnered with the Baltimore Ravens to help residents of Maryland enroll in the exchanges.
The Steelers have something in common with their hated rivals now. The Baltimore Ravens are helping promote Obamacare in Maryland. DC United is helping promote it as well.
Of course, they all have something in common – NSYNC has helped promote Obamacare as well.
