A branch of the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, located conveniently in the same building that houses the Transportation Security Administration’s headquarters, was robbed this afternoon. Insert your security joke here.
According to a press release from the Arlington County Police Department, the robbery occurred at approximately 1:19 p.m. when the two suspects entered, approached one of the tellers and “demanded money be placed in a backpack.” The suspects reportedly then fled in a blue and white taxi.
ARLNow was the first to report news of the robbery.
The bank is located at 701 12th Street S. in Arlington, the same building that houses the TSA headquarters. Arlington police are being assisted by the FBI’s Washington Field Office. Police describe the suspects as two black males between 5’9 to 6’0 tall with a skinny build. The first suspect is described as a “black male, approximately 6’0” tall with a skinny build and a short beard,” and suspect two is “approximately 5’10” and was wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jacket.”
It has been an interesting week for the TSA in the news. First, a Baltimore-based air marshal was charged with taking pictures up the dresses of airline passengers. Then, the air marshals had 70 boxes of ammunition stolen from a trailer near BWI airport.
