Corrogan Vaughn files to run against Elijah Cummings for Congress

According to the State Board of Elections website, Corrogan R. Vaughn filed on December 9 to run as a Republican for U.S. Congress in the 7th District. That seat is currently held by Elijah Cummings. Cummings filed for re-election on November 26. Fred Dickson of Howard County filed in April for the Democratic primary. No other Republicans have filed yet. Scott Soffen of Howard County is the Libertarian candidate for the seat.

Vaughn announced he was running for the U.S. Senate in 2010 but backed off that bid to run as a Green Party candidate for Governor that year. He also ran for the U.S. Senate as a Republican in 2012 but lost in the 10-way primary that saw Dan Bongino nominated. Vaughn finished in 8th place with 4% of the votes in that primary. He only finished ahead of William Capps and Brian Vaeth.
