First we had the announcement that Larry Hogan was going to announce in January. Now we have another “announcement” via a story leaked to John Wagner that he will finally announce on January 21 in Annapolis. He will announce his running mate sometime before the February 25 deadline.
Late this week, Hogan, 57, registered a political committee, Larry Hogan for Governor, with the Board of Elections that will allow him to start raising money.
Hogan, an Anne Arundel County real-estate broker, served as appointments secretary under Ehrlich, the only Republican governor Maryland has elected in a generation. In that capacity, he oversaw the appointment of hundreds of people to government posts and state boards and commissions.
Change Maryland has been critical of policy decisions made by the administration of Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), including a string of tax increases.
The organization recently published a report questioning the relationship between O’Malley and state contractors that made large campaign contributions to the Democratic Governors Association, a group O’Malley previously led.

Quinton is a native South Carolinian who has lived in Baltimore since 2006. He is a recent convert to the Catholic Church and is active in the Knights of Columbus. He has been involved in the pro-life movement nationally and locally since 2010.
Quinton is a veteran who served as an intelligence analyst in the Army National Guard. He is also an Eagle Scout.
