UPDATE: Cara R. Anthony, who is at the event, confirms what I already reported. She tweets that Young is running fo County Executive.
Earlier today Blaine Young posted an invitation to a campaign announcement and reception from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Dutch’s Daughter in Frederick. I hear that Young is still saying officially he’s “not sure” about his plans but one Frederick source tells me that Young is 99% certain to run for County Executive. As of the 5:08 p.m. update on the State Board of Elections website, he has yet to file for any office. So he’s likely filing after his event if he doesn’t make it in beforehand.
As of now, David Gray and Mark Sweadner would be Young’s Republican Primary opponents. Jan Gardner is the only Democrat who has filed. In August, Young bowed out of the race for governor and endorsed Charles Lollar.
