At an 8 a.m. event at the Maryland Inn in Annapolis this morning, Delegate Ron George will name former Frederick alderman Shelley Aloi as his running mate in the Governor’s race. Aloi previously ran for mayor of Frederick.
Shelley Aloi currently works as a banking analyst. She is a graduate of Hood College with degrees in biochemistry and math. She worked at Ft. Detrick doing cancer and AIDS research at the National Cancer Institute. As a result of her research efforts, she has a patent (Clarification: USPTO’s database lists Aloi as “inventor” of a patent.) Additionally, Aloi was in charge of an Olympic Village at the 1996 Olympics. She also served as Vice-Chair of the Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources and Policy Committee Aloi is active in martial arts and has been named #1 female fighter by Karate Illustrated.
All of the Republican candidates now have running mates. I do have to say that the campaigns of David Craig and Ron George did the best job of keeping the identity of their running mate secret as long as possible. The campaigns of Larry Hogan and Charles Lollar both had similar problems with leaks on who they were picking way in advance.
