Cecil County GOP chair promotes Liberty PAC event via party email list

An email sent to the Cecil County GOP’s distribution list by Chairman Chris Zeauskas promoted an upcoming appearance by Rand Paul that is sponsored by the Maryland Liberty PAC. However, no mention of Liberty PAC’s sponsorship of the event is mentioned in the email. All of the details on the time and location of the March 26 event are listed. The only way to find out it’s their event is to click on the link to buy a ticket.

I am certain there are some activists in Cecil County (who aren’t fans of Campaign for Liberty or the MD Liberty PAC) who won’t be happy about this. Is there deception in not mentioning the sponsor of the event in the email? What does this push say about ticket sales for the event that’s just over a week away? A previous event with Rand Paul and Dan Bongino sold out.

As the spat over HB 1513 in Harford County shows, there are some really strong feelings in some of the conflicting factions inside the GOP in different counties and Cecil County is where things have gotten heated in the recent past.

Zeuaskas previously ran for County Commissioner and one of his campaign’s biggest financial supporters was a Democrat – candidate for Sheriff Chris Sutton (as well as his campaign organization.)

  1. The Cecil Central Committee has been hijacked by Campaign 4 Liberty. They control 7 of 9 seats and follow no rules, Meetings are not advertised, minutes are not circulated, Treasurer’s Reports are not prepared. E-mails attacking GOP elected officials are transmitted without a vote, but bearing the Central Committee authority line. Sad state of affairs.
