Quid pro quo: Bill Clinton endorses Anthony Brown

Former President Bill Clinton announced today that he has endorsed Lt. Governor Anthony Brown in the Democratic Primary for Maryland Governor.

Could this be the real reason? (via WaPo)

In 2008, Brown endorsed the presidential bid of Hillary Rodham Clinton and traveled to several states to campaign on her behalf, doing events with both Clintons.

Gansler often talks on the campaign trail about his decision to endorse President Obama in the 2008 primaries.

Clinton had no problem endorsing the protege of Governor Martin O’Malley (a potential future opponent for his wife Hillary) since O’Malley’s polling numbers for 2016 are still in the toilet.

Brown does have ties to Obama as well. His campaign consultant, Jim Messina, served as campaign manager for Obama. Messina has been criticized for a past television commercial that was called homophobic.
