Schuh’s campaign gets it wrong on Constitution, Pledge


The above image is a direct mail piece sent out by the campaign of Steve Schuh, running for County Executive in Anne Arundel County.

Schuh said:

I have deep reverence for our “one nation, indivisible, under God.”

The actual text of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Schuh said:

I believe in Constitutional protections afforded every citizen, including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The U.S. Constitution doesn’t say that!

The Declaration of Independence does say this:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
