Carhart’s alleged victims were 29-year-old Jennifer McKenna Morbelli, pictured right, and her 33-week-old preborn daughter, Madison Leigh.
I have confirmed the identities of the victims through two sources. After a name ID was received from an impeccable informant, sidewalk counselors at the abortion clinic positively identified Jennifer’s obituary photo. Jennifer’s obituary also states she “passed away suddenly.”
Jennifer was married and a kindergarten teacher at Church Street Elementary School in White Plains, New York. Jennifer was carrying a wanted baby. At present her registry is still online. Very sad to view.
Approximately two weeks ago Jennifer learned her daughter suffered from fetal anomalies.
Jennifer, her husband, her parents, and her sister traveled to Carhart’s late-term Germantown Reproductive Health Services abortion clinic in Germantown, Maryland.
They began the abortion process on Sunday, February 3, in the afternoon, according to sidewalk counselors who maintain a constant presence at the clinic when it is open. They noted Jennifer appeared “very” late-term.
This story has finally been reported on by the mainstream media (MSM) now that The Washington Post has run the story excerpted below. The Other McCain previously noted the news blackout. The only sources reporting on it before were pro-life groups and news sites.
I found it sadly ironic that this happened in Germantown the same day I attended Michael Schwartz‘s funeral there. In fact, the late-term abortion facility is right around the corner (a 3-minute drive) from the Church where the funeral took place. There is going to be a prayer vigil and memorial service tomorrow on Wisteria Lane outside the office park where the facility is located.
Carhart has a pretty bloody track record performing late-term abortions and, as noted below, he reportedly lied on his application with Maryland officials to operate here. More on Carhart’s “reign of terror” can be found here.
Allegations include unlicensed workers illegally performing medical tasks, illegal post-viability abortions, drug violations, financial malfeasance, and that there was often dried blood on medical instruments. They indicated that Carhart had poor personal hygiene and rarely washed his hands between patients.
Maryland recently ranked 43rd in pro-life laws in a ranking by a pro-life legal group (full disclosure: my full-time employer.)
Maryland provides virtually no protection for women and minors seeking abortion. It does not have an informed consent law, and its parental notice law contains a loophole that eviscerates the protection this requirement typically provides. It also allows and funds destructive embryo research.
Some other notable facts about Maryland law include: a Freedom of Choice Act which would ensure legal abortion with little restriction even after a possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, taxpayer funded abortions for women on public assistance, and no requirement for physicians to provide appropriate medical care to an infant who survives an abortion.
Another clinic in Elkton botched an abortion for a woman from out-of-state in recent years as well. Do we really want Maryland to become a go-to destination for women seeking third trimester abortions?
